Gypsum board is mainly fixed on light steel keel by galvanized self tapping screws. The specific steps are as follows:

Main installation steps

Screw selection and fixed spacing

Use galvanized self tapping screws (with strong rust resistance), with the screw length penetrating through the light steel keel and embedded at least 1-2mm into the surface of the gypsum board

The spacing between screws is generally 15-20cm, and the distance between the screws on the edge of the board and the edge is about 1-1.5cm to avoid cracking caused by thermal expansion and contraction.

Installation direction and detail processing

The long side of the gypsum board should be laid perpendicular to the light steel keel, and the joints of the short side should be staggered with the keel frame to reduce stress concentration. ‌

The screws should be evenly screwed in perpendicular to the board surface to avoid tilting and causing weak fixation or damage to the board surface.

Nail hole rust prevention and surface treatment

The nail head needs to sink into the surface of the gypsum board by about 0.5-1mm and cannot penetrate the paper surface.

After completion, apply anti rust paint to the nail holes and fill them with putty to ensure that there are no traces of subsequent coating layers.

Other auxiliary methods

Laying flat method: suitable for suspended ceilings with T-shaped aluminum alloy keel combination, directly embedding gypsum board into the keel grid, but less applicable to light steel keel system. ‌

Adhesive method: When used in conjunction with UC type light steel keel concealed ceiling, the adhesive needs to be evenly applied, but its stability is lower than that of screw fixation.

Attention: The installation of light steel keel requires first marking the main and secondary keels to ensure a flat frame (refer to the construction process of light steel keel ceiling). If partition wall construction is required, the stability can be improved by combining light steel keel joint reinforcement technology (refer to light steel keel partition wall construction)
