The method of fixing screws on gypsum board needs to be selected according to the installation scenario (such as ceiling, wall) and the type of keel (wooden keel or light steel keel). The following are the key steps and precautions:
1、 Screw selection and tool preparation
Screw type
Priority should be given to self tapping screws (length 25-45mm) or wooden screws (diameter 1-1.5mm), avoiding the use of expansion screws or ordinary wooden screws.
Self tapping screws need to be galvanized for rust prevention, and wooden screws need to be protected with plastic covers.
Tool List
Electric drill (with suitable drill bit), level, tape measure, putty (for repair).
2、 Fixed steps
Positioning and Drilling
Mark the drilling points at the keel position (10-15mm from the edge, ≤ 5cm at the corner).
The drilling depth should not exceed 4.5cm to avoid damaging hidden pipelines.
Screw installation
Insert the screw vertically, with the head slightly lower than the board surface by 0.5mm, to prevent protrusion.
Each gypsum board is fixed with 8-10 points, with a spacing of ≤ 17cm to distribute the force.
Subsequent processing
Fill screw holes and joints with putty to ensure a smooth surface.
3、 Precautions
Keel support: Screws must be fixed on wooden or light steel keels, otherwise the gypsum board is prone to breakage.
Strength control: To avoid excessive tightening that may cause the board to shatter, it is recommended to use a low-speed electric drill for operation.
Safety protection: During ceiling construction, it is necessary to prevent falling and check the stability of the drill bit.
Tip: If heavy objects (such as lamps) need to be carried, it is recommended to reinforce wooden strips or metal brackets on the back of the gypsum board to increase the load-bearing capacity.
